well i have no photo of fabrics for now... but i have completed my dyeing task... a forest floor combination from melissa at fabric dyeing 101. and a nice little run of greens that i did myself. why am i dyeing all this fabric, you might ask? well when i get back from the coast, i will only have a couple of days left to get myself organized for "branching out" with rosalie dace. she is from so. africa and she is coming to sisters, oregon to teach at jean wells' stitchin' post. are we lucky or what? google her and see what she does... it is really beautiful... its a different type of story cloth... the photo is one that i took recently and will be transferring to organza and other fabrics to incorporate into the piece i will do in class. i'll be at the coast until thurs... its predicted to be windy and cool so the surf will be great to watch... we can never go in here in oregon anyway, so we might as well have a show! and it will bring good things in with the tide...i am really looking forward to this! stay tuned!

Green as I am green with envy that you made green Nance. What did you use to get my favorite color? Beach treasures, kelp, pods of seaweed, I would collect them as they came in on the tide and put them in jars just to wonder and look. Take some cloth and wrap it around a piece of driftwood and cart the thing home Nance. And of course the blissful treasures of sea shells and sand dollars and tossed on the sand crab shells- do you get the idea that I miss the sea... Wonder what impressions you will take from the sea to your Sisters class of trees...quite an inspiring time all around.
oh marti... sorry to admit that i used low water immersion with procion. i'm still thinking of combining colors to get green...onion skins and? what makes blue? blueberries?
Sounds like a good idea Nance, the onion skins and blueberries. Thought I had a lovely sage green the other day when I combined a marigold solution with some blueberries and a bit of baking soda, I was out of alum. In the jar, the solution was a lovely sage green so in went the cloth. When it dried, nary a hint of green. I have had some ok results with eco bundling leaves from my bell peppers, tomatoes, catnip. Still, to have a solid green is my goal.
marti, try dyeing one color and then the other. dye the two colors individually first to see if it is the right shade. then swith...put the blue into the yellow and the yellow into the blue. remember that yellow is the weaker color so you will need less blue and more yellow to get green.
