never enough time

some days i pull into the garage and want to go straight into the sewing room instead of upstairs to responsibility... today i had promised to make a lasagne from scratch for my husband and my son... it was fun... i do like making pasta from scratch.... and i like it that i grew the tomatoes last year and canned them and now have made sauce with garlic and basil i have grown and that i make the bechamel sauce for on top and then grate the cheese and spread the duxelles anf the ricotta. it all pleases me very much... but its what i have done all my life. now i finally thought i would have time to pursue fibers. no kids at home...far from it... and no need to go to work each day. but i am older and it takes more time to do things. and i have to spend more time taking care of my body. family issues take up time too. and caring for a husband... not that he has intense needs... he is an artist and understands if the dishes aren't done. he even does them from time to time and his own laundry too now. all in the guise of helping me to have more time in the studio..... so why don't i seem to have "enough" time?

Possibly because time has expanded, now at this point in our lives to allow for more interests to come into play. You, as a gifted and multi-talented woman, have a wealth of ideas and projects to pursue. It's a funny thing, time: it becomes elastic so that we can pursue those things that call to us but then it snaps into place because there are only so many hrs in the day. Ha, I'll take that snapping because the older I get, the more I want to know and try and see and do, even if it takes me out of my comfort zone as in beginning the dance with needle and thread!

wrote a loooong comment then lost
it. this time, i'll be more to
the point.

a while back, i had a day where
i began early outside, accomplished much with the weeding
and care~
came in showered~
took short nap~
began sewing and continued until
i'd gotton to a good place, fed
self, cleaned up from that~
checked the class blog and responded~
sewed some more, getting really lost in it, suddenly it occured to
me that it must be very late in the evening and i was startled to
see that it was only 4:30! i had
MORE TIME!!!!!...lots!!!!
since then, i think of how this occured.
i focused from EARLY on just the
two things and it felt so good.
and even tho i cannot do this every day, i have made a commitment to my sewing to do it
most days. i have made the Cloth
making the primary thing in my life. and it feels, finally,
very very "right".
and i no longer have that sense
of not enough time so much. hoping
to make it even less.
