i had a few quilter friends over to see this piece today. i can't tell you how nervous i was. as much as i am making this piece for myself, its still daunting to put it up before others. its meaning is somewhat of a personal vision... cycles of growth, spiritually, emotionally...even physically to a certain extent. it was well received. we all showed our pieces that we had been working on and that was inspiring. when you see what a group of women put their hands on and bring to life, how can it be other than inspiring? after they left i worked more on the hand stitching using a bit of gold and did some invisible basting joining the light to the dark.

and how did the hand stitching
go? was it ok? or did it bother
your hands?
not too much... however you see what i did and it was not gargantuan... wait for the fibonacci spiral... that will be a bit more involved. thanks for asking sweetie!

nandas - re the thread chat over on grace's blog, cut it at an angle first then pinch like a flea. also note that there is a good side to the needle for threading and a not-so-good side, so you may have to turn the needle over.
When you are ready for the fibonacci spiral, what color will the thread be? Will you also use gold to highlight the design of the spiral or will it be more invisible but still be seen as a raised texture to the cloth? This is just such a perfect piece to bring forth the changing season.
Hi Nance - I am in the cloth to cloth class with you and followed the link Jude put up for you. It has been wonderful to see more shots of the piece your shared in your test post and read more of your thoughts and feelings about it. I really love the diversity of elements you've combined as well as the overall feel/intention of the piece.

i put the root growth pic up but maybe should have put up the dreams of future quilt as it was finished... decisions.... i am going to the bins today to look for some suitable fabric for the class. i have no old clothes that aren't knit and i give all my good old clothes away to goodwill. sooooo.
