the last photo was not so straight so i have straightened it out on the design board and added some space at the top as well. sometimes when i am working i forget to add enough space all around for the binding which in this case won't show.. but i still need the seam allowance and space to square up if needed... also i've taken a closer pic of the dark area on top left. for some reason the close up seems lighter... why? but you can get the idea of what is there... i think
these show the whole piece better. i am also readjusting the photos to have one set be the reverse of the other. hopefully this time my hand stitching will be better.

oh yes... i love it. it stays. i am now doing the photos over... i basted them in place after starching them. its working much better. the dark is just that... able to look into because of the light areas... though they really aren't light. just shadow-y. which is intentional.
sometimes shadowy is lighter than
just light. here the light
becomes luminous
glad about the dark.
well i did what, to me, seems like a lot of handwork... though its nothing compared to the daunting task before you with your kantha curtain. there is still a bit more to do...tomorrow. the thing is for as much work as it takes, it doesn't show up from across the room. but i wouldn't think of not having it there. its my personal touch. like putting my own mark on it.
maybe that's the thing, or one
of the things about cloth...
certain parts, aspects, of it
are seen from across the room,
others from only close and still
others, only after time.

well it got me thinking too... its so in keeping with this piece. what you see what you don't.
Hi Nandas- I do find it a bit hard to 'see' this photo - but what I can say is how how much it arouses my interest. As one of those experiences in a forest where you just want to take one step closer to something, one more step, and another - then all of a sudden you have left the path completely. I think good art places us on a path by taking us off it. This work looks very ,very interesting. Gilly
thank you gilly.. its still in process so maybe you will see it clearer eventually. there is no real story like yours... its more of a metaphor in a way. but things are in process and now that my camera is back i will post some more photos later. thanks for commenting.
