yesterday i went over to visit my friend hermila, better known in jude's circle as herm. this is what i am stitching... and i have all but finished my sister's piece while stitching with her. she is making a nine patch with a moon in the center. she had some blocks already made from different patterns of blue indigo which will be beautiful when she is finished. she is doing well, very happy to be stitching and she is following a few blogs and misses everyone. her energy level is pretty good under the circumstances ... we chat non-stop and sometimes other people are there too.
tomorrow, jude's class magic diaries begins. we are all really looking forward to that...see grace's blog . the purpose of the class is to work on a long term project and share our progress and learn along the way. this class lasts six months. i will be working on two projects... one i have already begun... a large table runner which i have already started...see above... and a book. the idea for the book is still forming but i have always been inspired by louise bourgeois and when i found her making needle work projects in her later life i was truly touched. her parents had a tapestry business when she was young but she wasn't allowed to touch a needle. so finally in her later years she took up a needle and i am so glad she did.

so happy with the news of Herm..
thank you for that....
the blue piece...with the sailors moon...how truly beautiful...just the subtle colors of the central strip and then just stitches...
really really beautiful
thank you for looking here grace. yes, visiting with herm is a highlight in my week.
That blue weaving wearing all of those stitches is amazing!
glad to hear Herm is doing well. Thanks for sharing that.
PS Bottom photo wouldn't enlarge for me :(
i really like all these pieces...and the colors you are using.
The blue piece with the beautifully stitched sun /moon is great!
eva
what a great way to make a moon. creating a shape with stitch is fun. glad to hear you visited with herm. i received an e-mail from her last week and was glad to hear that she is following along with us. give her my love when you see her again.
"the blue wearing all those stitches" i like the way you phrased that, nancy! and i'm sorry i don't know what is wrong with the pics not enlarging... blogger or something i inadvertently did.
welcome vicky and eva! i hope i see you
both here again!
deanna... i'll give her your love next wed. she misses everyone!
and is it a moon or sun? i originally thought sun but moon works too! your choice, everyone!
Nandas, thank you so much for your kind words on my blog. I was feeling a bit down and when I openend my blog this morning, well, it did much good to me.
I love your moon in the first picture, all those tiny stitches and the background melting together. wow.
so glad to know that you have seen herm stitching. i wish i lived closer.
a few winters back my husband and I went to a LB exhibit at the Worcester Art Museum - entirely based on her fabric art. I especially loved a sculpture she'd made out of an old dress and the full wall display of pages from her fabric art journal. The keepsake program I purchased has become a favorite source of dreaming and inspiration.
Love both of the pieces in this post .. very beautiful colors .. and thanks for popping over to my blog .. your very sweet and I sent you an email about your questions. happy stitching!!!
I looove the colors! It is coming out great! I am so far behind but looking at your and others weavings has inspired me to get BUSY!
